A month before the
competition, Ma'am Vilma Buladas, my Advanced Biology teacher, encouraged me to
make a music video about Math and Science. I highly appreciated how she
recommended me from the rest of the video editors in school. I didn't
personally know why I should be the one to be chosen in the competitions inside
and outside the school since I'm not that kind of pro in making stuffs but I
really thank her for being so kind to me. She really appreciated every atom of
my work! I really love and miss her! :) Regarding the video, I struggled with
the questions that bothered my mind: What will be my concept? What camera
should we use? Does a month fit for the completion of the video? etc. That
time, we were rehearsing for the upcoming contest: Journalism, me as the
technical operator of our broadcasting team, so I think, time schedule might
hinder the progress of the video. Journalism week passed and we hadn't done
anything with the video.
One week before the submission of videos, we
finalized our plan but it was really a mess since the lyrics and the music to
be used were not yet created. Four days left, we had created the lyrics and the
singers had recorded their vocals/a capella. The day after, we were about to
shoot our video but the DSLR didn't have a video mode so we became hysterical
that time. Replacement was used through the help of iPad. Portrayed forthwith,
members of my group were so good to play their roles and they were really easy
to accompany with. Unfortunately, we hadn't finished the quarter half of the
shoot so we needed to be in school the next day. I did the completion: shot
part by myself. No sleep, maybe wee hours. The day after, we completed the
shoot. It was fun for us to be in the state of hopelessness since we were not
hoping to win, just wanted to pass it and have an entry. Rendering the video
was the hardest part of editing for me since it took 12 hours to fully finish
the whole vid.

This butterfly went to our shooting place but flew so rapidly
Picnic Grove! :)
It was Monday then: the time of submitting the 3
video entries: 4:00pm. The first group struggled with the video format. The
second group did not pass a video. And we, the third group, also struggled
'bout the chorus part. Since it will be passed at 4pm, we did revisions.
Through the help of faculty and staff, we were given some materials to make the
video better. We also had a chance to pick Harold Lacson as the 'Mr. Geometry'
since he was wearing an extra-terrestrial suit that time: they were also
practicing speech choir for the upcoming contest. Working hurriedly with the
vid, I did not attend classes that time and only did check the rendering of the
video from time to time. I really made the video through the inspiration and
help of Ma'am Buladas, she kept on telling me that I could do it. It was 4pm.
Freshly rendered, the video was submitted late along with the other entry but
it was accepted according to Ma'am. Despite of losing hope, we kept on praying
that our entry will be recognized.
Given quickly the results, Ma'am Buladas
congratulated me ahead that our video won - 1st! Champion! We really did not
expect it since the video was really rushed and our rivals were San Beda,
Elizabeth Seton, Saint Benilde, and other big private schools! Praise really be to
GOD! :)
Competition. Wooohooooh! De La Salle -
Canlubang! Since we already knew the results, it was a relief for us to goof
around the vicinity of La Salle - Canlubang. Still, there was that certain
feeling of worrisome since we were not yet proclaimed formally but via call
only. Hahahaha! :)
Program. The competition started with a prelude
National Anthem and other patriotic stuffs, followed by the dance presentation
of the cheerleaders of La Salle - Canlubang. They chose people to dance with
them. With no embarrassment, I volunteered to dance since all of my schoolmates
and teachers forced me to do so *I was known at school who dances Gangnam* :))
Hohoho
Awarding. Yeah! :) Really proclaimed. Anxieties were clarified. We really won :) :)
:)
This achievement wouldn't be possible without the help of the 2 departmental heads of my former school - Science and Mathematics and to our great principal. Also to our coaches, Ma'am Vilma Buladas, Ma'am Merlyn Estrada, Ma'am Arlene Vergara and Ma'am Bernalyn Magbitang.
